Rama-lama-ding-dong, you say? NO! Rambutan. Apparently it means “hairy” in Maylay and these babies are definitely hairy. They come in 2 colors that I’ve seen: red and yellow but only one flavor: DELICIOUS!
They taste like lychee except slightly more acidic. They’re delicious and a great source of niacin, manganese and vitamin C. I won’t be snubbing these hairy weirdoes.
All I can think of is “hairy eyeball.”
Radical fruit hairy eyeball.
All I can think of is “hairy……other kind of ball.”
I love these!! Please tell me we can still get them fresh next month. 🙂
I can’t make any guarantees but there’s definitely lots of fresh fruit in season… either lychee or longan will most likely be ready when you get here.
I love lychee!! i can never find them near me at all, i’ve never heard of these, but would def. try it. Thanks for sharing. where did you find them?
Farmer’s market in Miami, FL.
who knows maybe i’ll see them up my way some time, fingers crossed.
Aww how I miss Rambutan!
I was so excited to try the ones I picked up but they got frozen in the mini fridge and I think it made them go bad. 😦
Nooo! Maybe we can get more?
I used to eat those all the time when I was growing up in Indonesia. I missed them so much!
I like these, but I can only get them frozen here. 😦
Mmmmm, these are a favorite of mine! I have never seen them fresh though here in Atlanta.
